Pre-Check in Your Family

Introducing: Trailblazers - A new ministry for 5th & 6th Grade!

Start Date: Sunday, May 31, 2026

Trailblazers

Through this new ministry, we aim to create a strong, identity-shaping community that nurtures belonging, spiritual growth, and early leadership skills while supporting families through a major transitional time.

End Goal: When kids graduate our program (before their 7th grade school year), we want them to step confidently into the next stage of their walk with Jesus and have a successful transition into Youth Ministry.

How we’re shaping this ministry

We want this space to help preteens belong, grow in faith, and step confidently into the next stage of their walk with Jesus.

We have selected the LIVE 5th and 6th Grade 2-Year Curriculum (72 Lessons) by Kurt Johnston, Scott Rubin, and Brooklyn Lindsey.

  • 72 lessons designed specifically for preteens

Bible reading plan

Students will participate in a two-year read-through-the-Bible guide designed to help them build lifelong habits in God’s Word.

Kids Ministries Milestones

Every year our Kids Ministries work towards faith milestones at every grade. This time is a fantastic opportunity to grow in the wisdom of the Lord and gain valuable tools to help them in many areas of their lives.

Birth to Pre K

Introduction to Kids Ministries and Baptism Discussions

At this age we want to celebrate the blessing of a child entering the world and the First Pres community. Additionally if your family wants to baptise your child we would love to discuss those options with you.

Kindergarten

John 3:16

This verse outlines Gods big plan for our lives through His Son Jesus. We desire to have kids learn these foundational truths by memorizing this verse.

First Grade

Communion Discussions

While we understand that a childs decision to take their first communion is a family one we want to come alongside parent and help in any way we can. Therefore our first graders learn the importance of the sacrament and the liturgy of worship so that kids are ready to take that first step with their parents.

Second Grade

Bible Navigation and Receiving First Bibles

As children begin to master reading skills they will begin honing their Bible reading skills in second grade. They will learn tools for navigation books of the bible as well as receiving their first bibles.

Third Grade

The Lords Prayer

As kids begin their journey of studying scripture we hope their curiosities about God inspire them to have a relationship with him. One of the best ways to talk to God is through prayer which is why we memorize the Lords prayer and learn to pray just like the Lord taught us.

Fourth Grade

The Ten Commandments

The Ten Commandments teach us how to love and obey God. As children at this age learn to apply their faith in real life situations the Ten Commandments are a helpful tool for understanding practical ways to love God and others.

Fifth Grade

The Apostles Creed

Fifth grade marks a marvelous transition time where children celebrate the end of their elementary studies and prepare to enter the complex middle school season. As such memorizing the Apostles Creed is foundational for them to hold onto the core truths of what they believe.
